I invited a mostly platonic Facebook friend to a wedding out of the country.?

I live in Virginia and he lives in London. The wedding is next April in Southern Spain. We like each other but we probably don't want anything more than friends. Still, I don't speak much Spanish and would like to have a male companion at the wedding for company. He said Spain seemed so far away and hasn't mentioned it since. Is he freaked out? Does he think I want ? We are very close and have been for years t Facebook and in emails. What do I do? I want him to come but I don't ant to keep pressuring or risk making things more awkward.
