W/ a Sole Poproprietorship that has a DBA, can I write myself checks from the DBA name?

I own a web design company online. I want to setup a sole proprietorship, because I don't have enough money for a LLC or Corp. If I get a DBA for my Sole Proprietorship, can I write myself checks as if I were to get them from a job I don't own?
